| 09. | The official title of this is "The Early Tapes July/August | |
| 10. | 1980." This is back at the point when Level 42 were first | |
| 11. | getting together and were without a recording contract. | |
| 12. | They cut a few singles for Andy Sojka and Elite Records | |
| 13. | (Sandstorm, Love Meeting Love, Wings Of Love), and then were | |
| 14. | signed by Polydor. Sojka was left with a bunch of unfinished | |
| 15. | tracks, which he mixed as best he could and turned them | |
| 16. | into an album, entitled Strategy. He wanted to release it | |
| 17. | right after the Level 42 eponymous official "first album", | |
| 18. | which concerned Polydor (as they were ready to release the | |
| 19. | second album). Polydor bought the album, released it as | |
| 20. | The Early Tapes. Though unpolished in many places, this | |
| 21. | album has five instrumentals that could usually only be | |
| 22. | heard in their live performances 12-15 years ago. If you | |
| 23. | ever wondered why Mark King was considered a demon of funk | |
| 24. | bass, here is ample proof. | |
