Comments for Beatles, The, Anthology Vol. 2

It is amazing that any group can continue to delight their fans twenty-six years after their break-up, despite the death of their front-man. Buy this album, if only for the "Strawberry Fields Forever" rehearsals and out-takes, which went on to produce arguably the best pop song of all time. (However, I was a bit miffed when I found that "You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)" was cut - my favourite part, no less!)

Whoever made that "drone instrument" comment is sad. It's a washing machine!!!(DUH) Naw...oh well. Real Love & the second track of strawberry fields ROCK!!!

The beatles are the best group in the world How the heck do you find pictures on them?

THE MOST IN-SITE...MOST DEFINABLE TRANSITION PERIOD. STRAWBERRY FIELDS OPENS THE "DOORS OF PERCEPTION" AND SLAMS IT ON EVERYTHING THAT CAME BEFORE.

Once again, the Beatles bring us quality music. 'Nuff said!

This is my favorite anthology! I haven't heard anthology 3 yet, though.

The Strawberry Fields Forever tracks are mind-blowing! It's like hearing it for the first time all over again. And you've never really heard Across the Universe until listening to it on Anthology 2 - this song jumps to near the top of my list of all-time Lennon best after hearing this recording. This is the best collection of Beatles songs to be released since the White Album and is a MUST for any Beatles fans.

Wow! It just doens't get much better than this! A1 and A3 are both better than any other recorded 'product' out there on the shelves today...but A2 is the best of the trio. It's a 10!! Oh yeah, if your budget permits pick up The Beatles Anthology videos...or ask Santa! You may have taped the ABC Anthology but this is SO MUCH better...and lot's more of it too! Roger

Paul's bass lick toward the end of 'And Your Bird Can Sing', the one that brings them out of the break, just plain kicks ass.

The Beatles are the best band in the world!

THE BEATLES ANTHOLOGY series is to pop music what the UNKNOWN CHAPLIN biography was to Charlie Chaplin's canon: proof that even the Fab Four's discards are more interesting than most rock group's choicest offerings.

This LP ROCKS! I love the giggles you hear in And Your Bird Can Sing. It cracked me up!

Again, if you don't expect too much this is easy to enjoy as it flows from good song to good song. My favorites are "If You've Got troubles", the weirder "Norwegian Wood", the early take of "Tomorrow Never Knows" (more relaxed but yes it drones), and some of the multiple "Strawberry fields" recordings. Wish there was more of this actually. The albums from this era are must-hear, as a supplement this is pretty cool.

For your information, that "drone instrument" is merely a few instruments, probably drum and guitar, and possibly flute, recorded onto a 4- or 8-track tape and recorded onto another multiple track tape while being spun the wrong way(my mother told me this. She showed me that on an album cover where it listed the instruments). Also, these anthologies are probably the best gift to get for a fellow Beatles fan. I got this one for my mother for Christmas, and it got me addicted! Listen closely for the studio banter. For more information about each song, check out the booklets included with your CD or cassette

The second best anthology, behind three. It just proves the Beatles are the best ever.

The second anthology is the best by far. If you have one to pick this is the real choice.

I also really like the A2 version of "Good Morning, Good Morning." Ringo does some great drumming that was drowned out by all those horns.
