Comments for Beatles, The, Unsurpassed Masters Vol. 5 (1969)

The sound quality is fairly poor compared to other Yellow Dog releases, but if "Abbey Road" is one of your favorite Beatles albums (and it is mine), this CD is a must have. As the Beatles were completely a studio band by 1969, many of the "Abbey Road" tracks are basically the same as the released versions, but with later overdubbed instruments missing or different vocals. Track 1 - Ringo`s vocal is double tracked - sound effects missing. Track 2-3 - different Paul vocal, orchestration missing. Track 4 is one of the highlights here - different Paul vocal, ends with a long spontaneous jam ("At The Hop")! Track 5 has a different vocal (thank god Paul rerecorded it). Track 6 has a small musical introduction before the vocal, and is missing the moog-synthesizer near the end - otherwise, it`s the same as the released version, including the anvil.Track 7 has a different vocal, is missing the orchestration, and also ends with a terrific jam. Tracks 8-15, the medley, are the poorest sounding recordings on this disc - This is an almost final mix, just about the same as the released version, but with a few significant differences: on track 8, the closing verse (1234567 all good children go to heaven) starts earlier. 9 has a nice organ opening instead of the crickets. Track 13-14 are missing the orchestration and lead guitar. Track 15 has no vocals at all: also missing the orchestration, and the solos in the jam part. Track 16 includes the final notes, clipped off of "Abbey Road."Tracks 17 to 21 are fairly better quality, and are taken from "Let It Be" rehearsals.
