Comments for Turner, Tina, What's Love Got To Do With It?

E-MAIL: Cindy
All but two songs on this album were recorded in 1993, but most of them are remakes of the classic R&B ditties Tina did as a member of Ike & Tina Turner in the 1960s and 1970s, from "Fool In Love" to the necessary "Proud Mary" to Tina''s own composition "Nutbush City Limits". And Tina is a goddess; she can belt out these tunes even BETTER than she did in those days. A couple of really old R&B gems are found here too; she does renditions of "Rock Me Baby" and "Darlin'' You Know I Love You", and a recording of "Disco Inferno" which she used to play as a solo artist in the hotel clubs after she broke away from Ike. The new songs are the highlight, though. The theme song "I Don''t Wanna Fight" is a powerful yet pleasant rocker co-written by none-other-than Lulu. The Bryan Adams and Mutt Lange penned "Why Must We Wait Until Tonight?" is a soothingly sensual modern R&B sizzler, and Tina''s voice is perfectly emotional and strong. "Stay Awhile" is another emotional rocker, from the writers of "What''s Love Got To Do With It". "What''s Love..." and "I Might Have Been Queen", huge Tina solo hits from 1984, are also featured. An uneven album, but for the re-interpretations of the classics (although they do NOT change the original arrangement or formula) and the brand new triumphs make the CD worth getting.
Most of the songs from 60`s...You must see the movie too...If You like music from the sixties, please try this...I like this. The songs have power! Tina with her rough voice....
