Comments for U2, The Unforgettable Fire

E-MAIL: arts.slc1@jcu.edu.au
In my opinion, simply the best U2 album there is and ever can be! The Unforgettable Fire was a product of an "experimental artistic" phase and recorded in an old castle where the acoustics were exploited. The best songs would definitely include: The Unforgettable Fire Bad(an epic song) Wire Indian Summer Sky and.. of course...Pride(in the Name of Love).

**** (5 star scale)-- Something that pissed me off one time was that I was reading a record review and the reviewer actually had the gull to write that Unforgettable Fire was one of the 50 worst albums of all time!!! Then again, I'm sure this is a guy who thinks that the new "G-funk" is actually different from musically and lyrically different from "regular" rap. Get a clue. Of course, great album. --j.teel

BAD is a song that Bono holds close to his heart. It's a song about substance abuse, and more precisely, Heroin addiction. You may notice that the word "BAD" never appears anywhere in the song. This is because "BAD" has a deeper meaning than the words. It's actually an acronym. What does "BAD" stand for? (B)ono (A)gainst (D)rugs.

I used to be one of their first fans here in Greece back in '83.I met them with their two first albums and when Unfor. fire was released i totally got crazy. One of the first 30 albums of all times .The song with the same title accompani- ed by a fantastic video-clip set U2 in the highest position of their career. No comments about the later releases.

This album should be called ,the forgettable fire. In my opinion this is one of the 50 worst albums I've heard. J.TEEL doesnt really have good taste in music ---------U2----------packs shit. And likes to tuck in other peoples stools.

I believe this to be the best of their career , so far . Because of the recording in Slane Castle the sound on the album is awe inspiring .

THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE = THE UNFORGETTABLE ALBUM The no.1 album of all time without a doubt. With the possible exeption of Pride and Elvis all the songs are sublime. (not that Pride and ELvis are bad songs) The section from Wire to Indain Summer Sky has never been surpassed for intensity of feeling. You feel rather than hear or understand what the music is about. You don't just listen to this album you experiance it.

We in Ireland think that Bad should be made our new national anthem.

This was U2's last great work (it was all downhill after this). I listened to this albumn so much in '84 that I just about wore a hole in it.

BAD is simply the best U2 song ever. The emotion of this song is unparalleled. I've never heard a more powerful song. I'm not sleeping...

One of the two best U2 albums and second most confusing. But, and this advice is especially to redeemed@, don't try to have sex with it!

This albums a piece of shit. My sister listens to this so called "masterful music." I'd like to call this album "The unforgetable peice of poop. U2 is grossly overrated.

HEY SMILE, YOU ARE A MORON!!!! U2 ARE ONE OF THE BEST ROCK BANDS EVER AND USED TO WRITE THE BEST LYRICS TOO UNTIL THEY WENT POSTMODERN (E.G. POP). THIS ALBUM DOES REALLY CONTAIN SOME MASTERLY SONGS LIKE MLK, PRIDE, THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE, INDIAN SUMMER SKY, WIRE, AND THE DELIGHTFUL TIT-BIT, PROMENADE. IT'S MY FAVOURITE U2 ALBUM. ONCE AGAIN, TO THE FAT, UGLY, PANTERA AND MARILYN MANSON LOVER WHO POSTED THE LAST COMMENT, DAMN YOU!!!!!! GO TO HELL!!! IF YOU REALLY THINK THIS ALBUM IS PRETENTIOUS THEN YOU'RE EITHER A GREEN DAY FAN OR A 2-YEAR OLD CRETIN.
