This album by the most well-known of Cajun bands is an excellent introduction to the music of the bayous of French-speaking Southwest Louisiana. Light-years from being a scratchy and stiff recording of `traditional folk music`, this Grammy-award-winning album, put out at the peak of the Cajun music revival by Beausoleil and their leader, the well-known Ambassador and preservationist of Cajun music, virtuoso fiddler Michael Doucet, Danse de la Vie features both traditional songs of the Cajun people, as well as rocking original songs by a band at the height of their talent. On this recording, Beausoleil is completely `at home`, and easily blend elements of Zydeco, Country and Bluegrass into a beautifully-produced introduction to this very vibrant genre. Yes, this is one of those `If there`s one Cajun album you ever buy...` recordings. And if you`re already a fan of this eminently likeable music, you can`t be sure you`ve _really_ heard Cajun music until you`ve checked this recording out!Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
