Comments for Vangelis, AntarcticaE-MAIL: reynolds@wcu.edu An Argentine colleague turned me on to this album in 1991. He had been on a research vessel off of the coast of the Antarctic Peninsula. The ship became entrapped in the floe ice and was stranded for more than a week in brilliant austral summer sunshine. The ship''s captain blasted this music over the intercom, setting the mood for a magnificent experience. Antarctica is probably Vangelis`s best soundtrack, and perhapseven his best album. It is the score for the Japanese movieof the same name which follows the lives of some researchersand their dogs whom get left behind for the winter when theresearchers return to Japan. The movie is very scenic andthe story only a little sappy, it does not suffer badlyfrom the translation to English and is worth renting if youcan find it.The music is encoded in Dolby Surround (as are most moviesoundtracks) and sounds incredible when decoded properly.anoopktm@email.com A real Musical Extravaganza...that's what I call "Antarctica", the supreme album by Vangelis " the virtuoso ". For me, it's really a refreshing experience. The music is very much haunting and uplifting. We can picturise each and every situation by listening to this great music. If you 're a real Music Lover, no doubt ,you'll like this Album. As far music concerns, this album is outstanding !Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
