Comments for Various, Africa Never Stand Still

This 3-disc collection is an incredible survey of modern Africa. For me, even though it is a little dated (1994), it invites the listener into the world of the artists who inspired Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon and others (no judgments intended on their work). If you like original music with strong melodies, powerful vocals, delicious guitar work and enchanting rhythms. This is not recommended for those looking for traditional African music, though they may learn a lot from this set (as my friend did).

This is a 3 cd set that comes with a beautiful 46 page bookwith a page devoted to each artist. This is by far thebest collection of modern African music that I have heard.The variety of styles is quite impressive with 27 Africannations represented and there should be something here forjust about anyone. An excellent set for any collection.
