Saturday Morning Cartoons` Greatest Hits is a collection oftheme songs and best remembered bubblegum classics from the1960`s and early 1970`s children`s programming. Produced byRalph Sall, this collection would be great for any of today`ship-smart kids, with the exception of the photo insert of nakedButthoole Surfers` Paul Leary holding periwinkle in front of his privates. The music is reminiscent and well done, especiallyMathew Sweet`s Scooby-Doo and Tripping Daisy`s Friends/Sigmund and the Seamonsters. Reverend Horton Heat does an outstandingrendition of the instrumental Jonny Quest theme.There are some selections that could possibly been performedbetter by other artists (namely Josie and the Pussycats themehad very awkward octive changes that might have been bettersuited to a female artist with a wider vocal range the Ms. Hatfield and Ms. Donelly), this compilation was done NOT astongue-in-cheek as one might expect.
