Comments for Various Artists, Street To StreetThis compilation is largely a collection of little bands and unknown musicians fromLiverpool who went on to find fame and fortune in later bands. Big In Japan spawnedIan Broudie (The Three O`clock, Lightning Seeds), Bill Drummond (The KLF), HollyJohnson (Frankie Goes To Hollywood), and Jayne Casey (Pink Military, Pink Industry). The ID changed their name to Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, the rest is history.Jaqui & Jeanette featured Ian Broudie, Budgie (Siouxsie & The Banchees, Creatures),and Gary Dwyer (Teardrop Explodes). Tontrix gave us Hambi Haralambous (HambiAnd The Dance), and Mike Score (A Flock Of Seagulls). A special treat on thisalbum is an early recording by Echo & The Bunnymen before drummer Pete de Freitasjoined the band. They were still using their drumbox (named `Echo`!). All songswere recorded at Open Eye (4 Track) Studio between May `78 and May `79 andproduced by Noddy Knowler.----An Excellent piece of history.! Highly Recommended.Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
