Comments for Belinda Carlisle, Real

More somber than any of her previous albums. It is still very nice, though. "Tell Me" is a beautiful and emotional song, one of my favorites.

Definitely Belinda''s best album. It''s great to hear her leave the usual California pop/rock sound behind and go for a harder edge. "Goodbye Day" deserved a place on alternative radio, and "Big Scary Animal" is one of her finest tunes ever. "Too Much Water" is a hypnotic Carlisle classic, and "Wrap My Arms" is a great pop tune. Only "Lay Down Your Arms" and "Tell Me" sink into mediocrity, but even those tunes are listenable. The album''s best cut is "Here Comes My Baby," a powerful and gut-wrendching ballad that Belinda delivers with her best vocal performance to date. I was disappointed to hear "A Man and a Woman" be a step backward, but at least "Real" survives as a most superior rock album.
Nice record. There´s a change while still sounds like Belinda. She´s improving in the style. If you like ´Heaven on Earth´ or ´Runaway horses´ here is your next match.
