Comments for World Party, Egyptology

Recorded between 1993 and 1997. "Mixed in a bucket with a big stick." A great collection of pop/rock tunes, still withobvious inspiration from The Beatles (especially McCartney),Brian Wilson, Rolling Stones (Call Me Up could have been offBeggars Banquet or Let It Bleed). Some songs sound like they`re froma much earlier era (e.g. Vanity Fair, a 60s slice of pop with a very Monkee-ish chorus). Very listenable; gets better each time.(I`m giving it an "8" now but it`ll be worth a "9" after a couple more spins.) Available in a couple incarnations: as the"normal" single disc; as a 2-CD version with the 2nd disccontaining (according to www.ab-cd.com) 3 non-LP tracks (although I think Vanity Fair is on there somewhere); from Best Buy as the "normal"disc bundled with a 10-track World Party career retrospective("A Brief History Of The World Party," also available aspart of a 2-CD promo of "It is Time" (DPRO11715)). Enjoy!(09/18/97)
