Comments for X, LIVE AT THE WHISKY A GO-GO ON THE FABULOUS SUNSET STRIP

Recorded in Dec of 87, this was the last album before the group broke up for awhile. They returned a few years later to do a few shows around L.A. occasionally, and finally put out a new cd in 93, "hey Zeus!". The song selection is a nice overview of their material from 80-87, though the band is not the same without original guitarist Billy Zoom. Still a must-have recording since X was the best of the early-80s L.A. punk scene and one of the best all-time American bands.
This is worth it for Skin Deep Town alone... a really funny rip on Ft. Lauderdale and sunbelt culture. The live engery is comes through on this recording loud and clear. I can say this having seen X live three times. It's also nice to hear new verisons after you know every note on the studio albums. Yeah, no Billy Zoom, but do that make you miss out on this full engery performance.
