A must-listen for those who are too young or unfamiliar with Benatar. A thorough collection of her years at Chrysalis Records by one of rock''s most important vocalists. Her voice alone makes her a legend, especially in an era dominated by ballad-oriented, sometimes bland pop-song chanteuses dominating the charts in the 1980s and 1990s. Her multi-octave hard rock vocals, combined with Neil Giraldo''s soaring guitar work, made for some of the best hard-rock of the 1980s, such as Promises In The Dark, All Fired Up, Heartbreaker, and Hell Is For Children. The collection showcases her diversity as well, with new wave (Love Is A Battlefield, Looking For A Stranger), pop (We Belong, One Love), blues (True Love, Paying The Cost To Be The Boss), and heavy metal/hard rock. Her aggressive vocal stylings set up apart from her contemporaries and set a new standard for female rockers. Excellent listening by one of rock''s best singers.
