Comments for Uncle Bonsai, The Inessential Uncle Bonsai

Definitely a fantastic album. I listened to UB about 6 years ago, and lost my tape. An ex-girlfriend just sent me a copy of this one on CD. I''ve been listening to it all day, reveling. I can''t agree that there are no flaws... in particular, they get a little silly on a couple of songs. Generally, that''s just cool and fine...but they did it on "Suzy", which was always one of my favorites from the tape I had. It was done with a lot of energy and precision on that one, and never failed to give me goose bumps. I wish I had a copy of that version of that song, but other than that I can''t emphasize strongly enough that everyone with even a passing interest in folk/acoustic/ Guthrie-esque, harmonious, humorous, etc., etc. should check into Uncle Bonsai.
From Andrew Ratshin, the writer of virtually all the songs..."...The songs on this recording are from various radio/festivalbroadcasts across the United States. Some are excellent sound quality, some aren`t. Some performances are flawed, some aren...well, let`s just say some are less flawed. Theseare live performances of most of the songs from the first twoUncle Bonsai releases; the few that are missing are missingbecause there were no good recordings to be found."*I* didn`t notice any flaws; great CD. And don`t missAndrew`s two current groups, Electric Bonsai Band, and theMel Cooleys!!! Contact Yellow Tail Records for all Uncle Bonsai recordings and lots of other stuff at (206) 527-3546.
