Comments for Oldfield, Sally, Water Bearer

I first came across Sally Oldfield in 1981,when my uncle played the sweet music of the "CELEBRATION" album. (1980,Bronze/Castle) From the very first beat of "MANDALA", I was hooked. Her angelic voice,different music and the light touch of the production was magical to me. I set out to aquire all the Sally Oldfield albums I could find, and I believe I noe have all of them. The best of them all is, no doubt, "WATER BEARER"(1978,Bronze). With its Tolkienesque lyrics and magical music,it´s enough to lift you out of the humdrum,ordinary lives that most of us live.

I've been playing Waterbearer for 20 years - its by far and wide my favourite album of music and still sends shivers down my spice with its beautiful lyrics, tight haromics and other worldly ambience.

A truly magical album. Sally`s voice and instrument playingcreate a sense of wonder. The songs are mostly folk inspiredwith themes drawn from celtic mythology and Tolkien. For me this is a true classic.

fantastico, incredibile, meraviglioso, affascinante, superbo, mistico, grandioso, insuperabile, cristallino, elfico... non ci sono aggettivi per qualificare questo spettacolare lavoro, dove sally canta e suona tutti gli strumenti quasi contemporaneamente. La voce cristallina e angelica di Sally corre attraverso i magici racconti di Tolkien facendoci tornare tutti un po' bambini ma con la consapevolezza che stiao ascoltando una delle più belle e incantevoli voci del mondo. grazie sally

Water Bearer es, sin duda, uno de los grandes discos de la década del 70. El paso de los años no le ha restado brillo. Volver a escucharlo es comprobar cada vez la maestría de una gran compositora e intérprete. Para mí, un indiscutible clásico.
