Comments for Baerwald, David, Bedtime Stories

Mr. Baerwald, arguably one of rock and roll's most underappreciated songwriters, shines on this solo debut. From the passionate ballad "Walk Through Fire" to the catchy country-rock style of of "All for You," and to the apocolyptic "Sirens in the City," this album is a fine follow-up to Baerwald's previous effort as half of David+David's artistic LA duo. My advice is to write down Bearwald's name down and file it away. He is simply one of the best singer/songwriters of our time, but knowing the tastes (or lack thereof) of today's mainstream audience, Baerwald -like so many geniuses before him - might fade into oblivion before he finds the audience he so deserves. Do yourself a favor and tune into this guy before it becomes the hip thing to do.....

Last summer my copy of bed time stories melted on the dash of the car. It was one of the saddest days of my life.

This is my favorite album. I'm on my third copy of the tape--one got lost in a cab, one melted at the beach. I'm 30 and I listen to this in the same obsessive-compulsive manner I listened to music when I was a teenager. Is there a 12-step group for this addiction?

I AM NOT 30 OR OVER, HOWEVER, I DO APPRECIATE GOOD MUSIC. BOOMTOWN WAS A MASTERPIECE AND I DIDN'T THINK THAT IT COULD BE TOPPED BY A SOLO PROJECT-BOY WAS I WRONG!!! HELLO MARY, IS UNDOUBTEDLY ONE OF THE TEN BEST SONGS EVER, AND ALL FOR LOVE IS DARNED CLOSE. THANK GOD THAT YOU CANNOT WEAR OUT A CD, SINCE BOTH OF BAERWALD'S SOLO EFFORTS ARE SADLY OUT OF PRINT. IF YOU DON'T OWN THIS CD AND SEE IT USED SOMEWHERE, SNAP IT UP WITH BOTH HANDS AND NEVER LET IT GO. IT IS JUST THAT GOOD.

Probably the most catchy intro chords of any disc I own. (And I'm in the industry, so it's a sizable collection.) Not as overtly political as "Triage", but intelligent, incredibly listenable music. DB puts out consistenly amazing discs. I hope he made a fortune off of his writing credit for "All I Wanna Do". Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Very personable live, too.

Bedtime stories, This quietly released album is still one of my favorite albums of all times . I do not know my the album and the artist is an engima . I am real disappointed that he is not getting more critical acclaim from the critics. I listen to his music and am suprised by how I am always moved by it. I find my self slighty psycotic when it comes to his music. Hope more music comes our way . Buy the album it is the best and most used CD in my library Brad Powaschuk :)

David Baerwald is one of the most incredible and distinctive songwriters that I've ever come across. This album and Triage feature some of my favorite lyrics and playing that I've ever heard. I hope somebody gets the sense to let this man loose in a studio again. An incredible talent. Over the last few years, I've gotten into the habit of emptying the Baerwald bin at the record shops from time to time and giving these CDs to some really good friends. Hard to find much stuff about him on the net, however. Baerwald fans unite, his is a voice that ought to be heard.

The best album you've never heard of. Raw and polished at the same time. Beautifully produced. Lyrically, the best there is.

This is one of my all time favorite albums! My muscial taste is varied from hard rock to classical. David Baerwald's Bedtime Stories is hard to define as "pop" or "rock". It seems to create an entirely new description to sound. I play a bad copy of this on cassette all the time because I lost my original copy! Lets all hope that David can put out another album similiar to this sometime soon! Everytime I play this, I feel like a York Peppermint Patty on a cool fall day!

Bought this album when I was in college and loved it instantly. Probably one of the best cd's that not a lot of people have heard. I listened to it yesterday for the first time in a few years, now I can't stop playing it.

David, we know you're out there... Give us more music... I was at a dinner the other night, and the questions of favorite album, artist, songwriter, etc. came up... I repeatedly named DB... Then I said, it may sound hokey, but he speaks to my soul... Give us more music David... Your fans -- and the internet is teaching me that there are many others -- miss you... You have no peers... Your work is singular...

David Baerwald does have new music out. However, he''s had to release it himself. For a limited time, you can buy his new (Fall 1999) 2-CD set directly from him. You can get details on how to buy ''A Fine Mess'' at: http://members.tripod.com/dano272/baerwald/
David Baerwald (of David and David Fame - "Welcome to the Boomtown") is a fabulous artist that has gone mostly unrecognized to date. Bedtime stories is a great collectionof Pop/Rock music that is geared to the 30+ Rock audience. A very creative mix of light to medium rock with interesting lyrics and catchy tunes. With a taste for a wide variety of music, I find myself continually coming back to "Bedtime Stories". It seems to satisfy my every need. With a collection of several hundred CD`s, I cannot name a better all aroundperformance without one letdown in 12 tracks. If you`re 30 or older and enjoy Pop/Rock youowe it to yourself to get this CD. You will not be disappointed!
