Comments for McCartney, Paul, Ram

E-MAIL: sullivan@dtc.net
This is actually listed as Paul & Linda McCartney, and not a solo effort.
E-MAIL: john.com
How Do You Sleep?
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Is "Too many people" about John ?????
E-MAIL: Beatles923
I have this album, and I think it is really good, although I don't refer to Linda as my favorite person in the world.
E-MAIL: john.com
Yup, "Too Many People" was about John, and "How Do You Sleep?" was his reply.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
John, is How do you sleep? your favourite song ?? If not, why else do you keep quoting it ???
E-MAIL: john.com
I was just answering your question about "Too Many People." My favorite song is "Give Me Some Truth."
E-MAIL: john.com
Paul wrote "Too Many People" as an attack on John. John heard it, and then wrote "How Do You Sleep?" to attack Paul.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
I know that, i was commenting your earlier comments!!!!
E-MAIL: john.com
I think you know what I was driving at with that song. Just a personal opinion, but you're pretty cool about it, so I respect your opinions. Still think Paul's best songs (and many were great) were with the Beatles.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Yes, I know excactly what you mean, and I respect your opinions too. The difference between Paul and Johnis that Paul made more bad songs, but they made about equally many good and great songs.
E-MAIL: john.com
That sounds right.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Did any of these songs become a hit ?????
E-MAIL: john.com
If you're talking about this record, Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Great album especially "Too Many People" and "Uncle Albert/ Admiral Harsley"
E-MAIL: Spiderman
I rate this album as Paul's second best after "Band On The Run"
E-MAIL: Heather
is this the album with the really odd cover? i may have seen it at a store...wow
E-MAIL: john.com
You mean Paul "holding" a ram. John responded on the Imagine album with a picture of him "holding" a pig.
E-MAIL: Heather
John could be a spiteful little man, couldn't he?
E-MAIL: Spiderman
COULD be??? from what I have read he was always a mean character, it was only because he was doing so much drugs that he could join in at the summer of love. I read this in a book about John by Albert Goldman.
E-MAIL: Heather
aw, Spiderman, give John a little credit! the man was under a hell of a lot of stress, you know. and he could be a wonderful little man when he wanted as well.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Yes, I agree, he was under a lot of stress. I mean that he had a lot of moodswings, but what I said about Summer of love was true, maybe the drugs erased the consience John once had. But he became more balanced later.
E-MAIL: john.com
Albert Goldman is (was - he's dead) full of crap. He is known for slanderous biographies that are full of it. He also did books on Bob Dylan and Elvis. If you want to read a great biography, read Lennon: The Definitive Biography by Ray Coleman. Sure he took drugs, who didn't in the 1960's (I mean musicians)?
E-MAIL: Spiderman
I think I believe you, John.com. The more I read this book , the more crap it says about John. But I think there is some truth about it .
E-MAIL: john.com
Any truth is probably general knowledge that we knew before reading it. I question his sources etc. Like I said, read the bio by Ray Coleman instead - it's great - and very fair. He was a friend of John's, but was not afraid to write about any of his faults either: and he didn't do it in a scandleous way like Goldman.
E-MAIL: Heather
the only book about John Lennon that i have is "skywriting by word of mouth". have either of you ever heard of it?
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Not me.
E-MAIL: john.com
It's some John writings - poetry. I don't have it, and I've never read it. I want to pick it up at some point.
E-MAIL: Heather
it's really a very good book. i enjoyed it alot. you need to read it, it's too good to pass up.
E-MAIL: Heather
where is xena??
E-MAIL: rsuarez@bellsouth.net
okay enough is enough! let's get one thing straight here, "too many people" which happens to be a really terrific song by the way, was a bitchy song about john, but more so about the apple situation. remember john drew first blood with his mean-spirited interview in rolling stone. john also thought that "dear boy" was about him, but mccartney denies this vehemently. john was always paranoid that paul was out to slander him. this album sounds a great deal like an extension of the beatles, and you know why? because paul practically carried the beatles on the last few albums. yes john was extraordinary talent and was the visionary of the beatles, but paul was the man behind most of the ideas, and yes some of them were not too bright. but as their solo years progressed mccartney released bigger hits and opened up a can of whoop ass on lennon, while john released dud after dud. the final nail in the coffin was when john accused paul of succeding because of his "silly love songs". and you all know how paul responded to that. john knew that he blew it by breaking up the beatles, and he sure knew as well as the rest of the world that yoko was partly to blame. i can respect a man for walking away from something so right like the beatles for his ideal love. and to top it all off, paul writes a masterpiece at the end of "ram" in "the back seat of my car". a great album paul! ram on!
E-MAIL: Heather
ram on?!
E-MAIL: john.com
It's a song on the record.
E-MAIL: Heather
ram on?! how lame is that?
E-MAIL: john.com
pretty lame. I don't like this album at all except for "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey."
E-MAIL: Heather
i don't know any of it. but Daddy has "all the best". maybe i'll listen to that. i was looking at that cd, and i had intentions of listening to it, but the artwork turned me completely off. perhaps i'll give it another chance.
E-MAIL: john.com
"All The Best" has a lot of crap on it - "Say Say Say" (w/ jacko), "Ebony & Ivory", "Coming Up"," Pipes Of Peace", "Silly Love Songs","My Love" etc. "Mull Of Kyntire" is a nice song. "Wings Greatest" is a better collection by default because it only goes up to 1979.
E-MAIL: Heather
i'm not going to mess with any of that. i'll just stick to flaming pie, and trying to get up enough courage to buy something of John's. or maybe George...
E-MAIL: john.com
Plastic Ono Band, Imagine, and All Things Must Pass.
E-MAIL: Heather
Oh, who am I kidding? I'm still afraid to buy ANY of that.
E-MAIL: john.com
You can actually see the Imagine album on video. John & Yoko made a video (film) album of all 10 Imagine songs, + a couple of Yoko things. It shows them around the Tittenhurst estate (the big white house with the white piano in it) and in New York City. George makes a cameo in it. You can rent this film and decide if you like the album or not (not to be confused with "Imagine - The Story Of John Lennon")
E-MAIL: Heather
i hope it's at hastings...but i doubt it.
E-MAIL: john.com
What's hastings?
E-MAIL: Heather
the local books/music/video chain. it's my only source of music that isn't edited (a la Wal-Mart). lucy in the sky is an awesome song...i'm listening to it right now...lucy in the sky with diamonds...lucy in the sky with diamonds...
E-MAIL: john.com
Ah! Wal-Mart - what a scummy corporation. Avoid it if possible. Lucy In The Sky is a great song. The Grateful Dead used to do nice versions of it too.
E-MAIL: Heather
not possible. not at all possible. oh, John, you would be proud of me- i bought a Grateful Dead cd.
E-MAIL: john.com
Great, which one?
E-MAIL: Heather
skeletons in the closet, i think.
E-MAIL: john.com
Not one of my favorites only because I don't usually buy greatest hits package, but it's pretty good for someone who doesn't know any of their stuff. I think "Friend Of The Devil" is on there - that's a great one.
E-MAIL: Heather
i haven't listened to it yet, but i will.
E-MAIL: john.com
I hope you like it. They are a much better live group - always sounded uncomfortable in the studio. There is one live track on the greatest hits package, Lovelight. They shortened it from 19 minutes to 5 minutes. Oh well, what did you think of it?
E-MAIL: Heather
the cover art is nice: )
E-MAIL: john.com
They have lots of trippy album covers.
E-MAIL: Flower Child
if you're lucky, i'll listen to it tonite. but i probably won't be home. i don't know..."you tell lies thinking i can't see, you can't cry cuz you're laughing at me...i'm down" [i'm listening to pmv1].
E-MAIL: john.com
pmvl?
E-MAIL: Flower Child
past masters volume 1. i thought you'd know that, john, since you're such a Beatles connosieur...
E-MAIL: john.com
On my browser, 1 and lower case l look exactly the same. When you 1st came on here, I didn't know if you were 1 or l (it looks the same on my screen right now). Yes, I have PMV1 - my 2 favorites on there are "I Call Your Name" & "Slow Down."
E-MAIL: Heather
my favorites are "from me to you" and "i want to hold your hand" "this boy" "yes it is", etc. the german interpretations are a lot of fun as well.
E-MAIL: john.com
I forgot about "This Boy" - great singing. "Yes It Is" is nice, though it sucks on A1.
E-MAIL: Heather
"this boy" is one of the reasons i became a Beatles fan. i don't know- something about that song really, really affects me. maybe it's just because i'm female.
E-MAIL: john.com
I only like it for the singing - some of their best.
E-MAIL: Heather
hey guess what! i also got a bob dylan cd too. but i've had that for a long time. aren't you just so damn proud of me?
E-MAIL: john.com
Very proud of you - which one is it?
E-MAIL: Heather
i'm slightly sure it's not the best he's done. it's the unplugged album. i haven't really listened to it much, but i do have it!: )
E-MAIL: john.com
Unplugged is not his top 10, but it's very good. I enjoy it. He has a nice backing band on it.
E-MAIL: Heather
i got slightly annoyed with his voice, and so i had to turn it off. does he always sing like that?
E-MAIL: john.com
Yes & no. He always had that Woody Guthrie styled voice (which I like). The thing about the Unplugged album is that when anyone sings non-stop for 30+ years, the voice isn't what it used to be.
E-MAIL: Heather
well, that's understandable. maybe i'll give it another shot. do you have any suggestions about where to start if i was looking into starting a Rolling Stones collection? there's too many damn cds.
E-MAIL: john.com
I only like their 1960's to very early 70's stuff. You're safeset bet is "Hot Rocks," a 2 CD greatest hits set from this period. It has all of their big songs, though they left some choices off that I would disagree with. If you want to go individual albums, my favorites is "Beggars Banquet", and "Aftermath."
E-MAIL: Heather
okay, thanks. i'm pretty sure i'll like them, so this won't be so much of a gamble. (i'm like george; i never put down any money unless i have 5 aces. same goes for nearly everything else.)
E-MAIL: john.com
Just watch out for the anti-women lyrics, though like I said, most women don't seem to mind them. They love Mick.
E-MAIL: Heather
i can't seem to get past his mouth. it's amazing...giant. how could anyone get past that?
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Has anybody ever heard Kim Stockwood ?
E-MAIL: Heather
not me. who's that?
E-MAIL: john.com
Is she a singer from Sweden with a big mouth?
E-MAIL: Spiderman
She's canadian. She's made this great song "Jerk". How about Melissa Etheridge ??
E-MAIL: Heather
oh, Jerk! "you jerk, you jerk, you are such a jerk, there are other words, but they just don't work!" yeah, i know that song. and i know melissa etheridge too. i like the album "yes i am" by her. that sounds good, but her latest one doesn't. i like the song "bitch", by meredith baxter(?). "i'm a bitch, i'm a lover, i'm a child, i'm a mother, i'm a sinner, i'm a saint, i do not feel ashamed, i'm your hell, i'm your dream, and nothing in between, you know you wouldn't want it any other way..."
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Yeah, those songs get a lot of airtime in Sweden now. I just love those songs. Do u know anything about those two ??
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Her name is Meredith Brooks, that's who i ment, not Melissa etheridge.
E-MAIL: john.com
I don't like Melissa Etheridge & never heard of the other 2 singers. Meredith Baxter is an actress. I thought "Bitch" was a Rolling Stones song. My memory must be failing.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Maybe there's a stones song too. Turned out i never have heard Melissa Etheridge. But Meredith Brooks and Kim Stockwood are two good examples that SOME good new music actually exists. Has anybody heard the new Oasis single ? Man, it's great !!
E-MAIL: Heather
i never get to hear anything: ( do i know anything about those singers? no. no more than you do, I'm sure.
E-MAIL: john.com
You both know more about these singers that I do. --- fine with me.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Merril Bainbridge is another great one, you know "Mouth" "When i kiss your mouth i wanna taste it...."
E-MAIL: Heather
i don't like that song very much. i think it's merril's voice. anyway, do you like that song "sunny came home"?
E-MAIL: Spiderman
No, but NOW the wallflowers are beginning to be heard in Sweden I love the song "One Headlight"
E-MAIL: Heather
wow! that's really cool! i think one headlight is great too! have you heard any other songs by them?
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Nope, they are kinda new in Sweden. I guess some groups take more time to get into Europe, we had Paul's record the same time as you did
E-MAIL: Heather
well, Paul IS european, you know. also, he is a much bigger star than the wallflowers, and has been around just a little bit longer, i would say: ) is the wallflowers album available there? i wonder if it's different from the american version...
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Yes, of course i know Paul is european. But i still thought it would come earlier in America than in Sweden. We don't release all albums at the same time in Europe, you know. And yes, the Wallflowers album is avaliable. And it has been on lots of TVcommercials, not very usual here (to promote a Cd on the telly)
E-MAIL: Heather
they don't do that here, either. commercials for cd's are cheesy... makes you think the artist is out only to make money. you did end up getting flaming pie, right? i did!
E-MAIL: Spiderman
I haven't bought it personally yet. So what do you think of it ?
E-MAIL: Heather
well, when i heard people saying that it was almost "beatlesque", i bought it immediately. i dunno though, when i listened to it, i didn't once think of it as "beatlesque". it's a good album, but not "beatlesque". what did you think of it?
E-MAIL: john.com
I don't like the World Tonight single - too bland. I don't know what the rest of it sounds like.
E-MAIL: Spiderman
Hey, I bought Oasis new album yesterday, it's their best yet !!
E-MAIL: john.com
I'm sure George Harrison didn't.
E-MAIL: Heather
i haven't heard anything from the new oasis cd except "do you know what i mean" or whatever it's called. it sounded good... do you think i should buy it? or should i continue to stockpile the rolling stones?
E-MAIL: john.com
I'd stick with the Stones (early period only). Which ones do you have so far?
E-MAIL: Spiderman
I think you''d like Oasis new. I think you should buy it.
The second Mc Cartney`s solo album.
