I''ve been looking for this album for *years* It s pitiful.. most record stores I go to asking about Stump have no idea what I''m talking about... *sigh* I bet they''ve never heard of Jolly Tamborine Man either. =[ If anybody knows of any Mail-order outlets I might be able to Pick up this album. *pleae* email me! thanks..
Quite delightful & unforeseen surprise that came waltzing(sideways) out of 1988`s "modern rock" movement alsopopulated by similar weirdos like They Might Be G. and Sugarcubes. Captain Beefheart with unusual, visionary pophooks, informed by Irish folk songs and evolutionary dogma.

This is a fantastic album. I picked it up back in 1990 at Zia Record Exchange in Tempe, AZ. If you dig music that's slightly left of center, definatly track this down. It predates PRIMUS but has the same quirky undertones with a twist that you can only get with 80's bands from the UK. Jer - http://www.artformusicians.com

It's amazing that this record was ever finished. The Stump lads and their assigned producer made some magic, but couldn't get along, so the record lay in limbo for 6 months while a replacement was sought. The project was remixed several times and Stump detested the results. Enter Orginal Producer to fight through the rest of the project. Atonal pop music is a dirty business. For god's sakes, if you find a copy of this record and you don't buy it, surely you will fry in hell.

Bought a cassette of "A fierce pancake" when it came out in late 80s in london. loved it. played it to death. recently tried to track it down. it's now selling for $60+ on amazon.com. why didn't i buy a cd? why didn't i buy a cd? does the fish have chips? does the chips have fish? if anyone can burn me a cd of it, i will be eternally grateful and promise to send a check for $50 to Kev Hopper (a member of this vastly under-rated band).
