Comments for Roula, Lick It

The track "Lick It" is, in the eyes of many, to be just as fun (if not altogether superior) to the first Gilette release "Short Dick Man". The lyrics and content of "Lick It" hold no deep meaning within them (the same thing can be said about "S.D.M"), yet there is an obvious sense of sarcastic deception and blatant reference to sexually explicit activity that truly made this easy-to-dance-to tune a monstrous hit. Gillette's charisma and unmistakable singing style during the song induces even the rabid club dancer to giggle during the DJ playback. Eventually, as with all dance classics, this track will become old sooner than later. In the mean time, "Lick It" has established itself as an explosive turn-table favorite and over-played tune.

My all-time favourite on the dance-floor!!! The Club Mix and the Underwear Mix are tops! Check out the other ''Lick It'' remixes single (the one with the black cover). Anyway, from what I know, 20 Fingers are the PRODUCERS of these few songs (''Lick It'', ''Short Dick Man'', ''Sex Machine'',etc...), very much like, say Babyface? And the people who sang the songs are actually not 20 Fingers but Roula, Gillette, Katrina,etc...,very much like Toni Braxton or Whitney Houston singing a Babyface song! It''s relly not THAT confusing...:)
They seem to have a slight problem to decide under wichname they will manfacture their products. First they did itas 20 Fingers in Short Dick Man, then singer Gillette decided she wanted her name on the list as well...On The Attack became her soloalbum, produced by 20fingers/Roula, Mr Personality, the first single in her name.Lick It came sometime in between, and althought it`s thesame people working on all this they released it under thename Roula, (why can`t they finally decide to stick to one name instead of three...) Anyway, Lick It came in two different versions: the one with blue cover, wich is theeuropean one and has slightly nicer lyrics " You gotta lickit, before you kick it, you gotta take an extra step so youcan kick it". The US version (white cover) is "You gottalick it, before you kick it, you gotta get it soft and wet..."a little bit more nasty.. This song is a good follow-up toShort Dick Man, it`s not excellent, but it`s good dancemusic(Maybee not really HOUSE, but that was the closest I could get) and if you don`t mind this kind of lyrics it might fit inyour collection of dancemusic...
