Comments for Fahey, John, Rain Forests, Oceans, and Other Themes

this is a great work.

This CD release actually combines music from two Fahey releases, "Rain Forests..." and "Let Go." Thus, the mixture is a bit strange, combining as it does a New Ageish album ("Rain...") and an album that mixed some original Fahey work with covers of some of his favorite songs (which ranges from the rock classic "Layla" by Eric Clapton to classical music). Because of the mix of styles, the album has a certain strange discontinuity between different tracks, but it does show off some of Fahey''s fine acoustic guitar playing.

Fahey is joined here by guitarist Terry Robb on 7 of the 12 tracks.The material on this recording is quite diverse, rangingfrom Hendrix to Stravinsky as well as several Fahey originals.
