Comments for Fahey, John, Fare Forward Voyagers (Soldier's Choice)

One of Fahey''s more experimental works, this album is rich with extended compositional style and Fahey''s wide-ranging influences. It has held up better than much of his more recent work, and is a superior listen, especially for those searching for how the acoustic guitar can blend or distill many different styles seamlessly in an epic, compositional work.

"Fare Forward Voyagers" - the song is an elegant composition that melds Indian influenes with Fahey's already complex base. It's very emotional - almost starkly so and unforgettable. The flip side imo is more forgettable. The A-side is a dance.

Yup, the other reviewers got it right. Masterful acoustic finger-style guitar. American roots music put through the Fahey Filter where raga, classical guitar, delta blues, and spiritual music all blend. Fahey was a genius of tempo changes, wonderful chords and open tunings.
