Comments for Sweet (The), Desolation Boulevard

E-MAIL: thrasher@southwind.net
Yes, this is a compilation of cuts from more than two English albums. The original Desolation Boulevard included cuts 2, 7, and 10. Also included were four more originals and their versions of The Who's "My Generation" and "Man with the Golden Arm" with a powerful drum solo. I believe cuts 3, 4, 6, 8, and 9 came from Sweet Fanny Adams. I had this on eight-track in the seventies and I no longer recall exactly what was on it. Anyway, the import version of Desolation Boulevard is (was?) available on CD in England. E-mail me if you want the address. Also, the entirity of Sweet Fanny Adams, with bonus tracks (19 cuts in all), is available at The Sweet Collection from the same manufacturer. I also managed to pick up Give Us A Wink (the followup to DB) from a West German manufacturer. If anyone can tell me anything more about what is available (especially the stuff predating Give Us A Wink), PLEASE PLEASE E-MAIL ME!!! (Can you tell I kind of liked these guys?)

I like this album a lot, one of the best Sweet made, although I also like Off the Record a lot, this came later, not sure if it was released in America also. I''v got a lot of Sweet CD''s and singles, albums etc. and their music style varies a lot from time to time. Great band!!
This is the North American compact disc release of the classic album. The album actually says 1973, 1974, 1975. I believe this is because it is actually a compilation of tracks from different British releases from those years. This compact disc was released in 1988. Why Capital has not released any more albums on compact disc is frustrating. This album runs from glam to bubblegum to rock and roll, and even ventures into metal territory. Mid seventies rock doesn`t get any better than this folks. Sweet was a major influence on latter day bands. It is a crime other albums are not being released on disc.
