Comments for Pere Ubu, New Picnic Time

E-MAIL: mcfarsc@springfield.grumman.com
The last in the run of great Ubu albums, and their last with guitarist extraordinaire Tom Hermann. This moves on from "Dub Housing" and gets even more complex in spots. The first two tracks will BLOW YOUR MIND and demand to be heard hundreds of times. There's an EP worth of stuff on here that stands as some of the most extraordinary music ever made. IT DOES DEMAND TO BE HEARD! If you haven't heard it yet you will be in for a real treat when the Ubu boxed set comes out!

The track listing has the two sides backwards (6 - 10 on the list are side A, 1 - 5 are Side B).

An incredibly difficult album to get into. Has a similar feel to "Dub Housing", but the sound is more complex. Tom Herman seems hell bent on snapping each of his guitar strings individually, and David Thomas'' vocal performance alternates between what sound like bizarre conversational snippets and animal noises. An insane, hideous musical experience. In other words a masterpiece.
Moving on to June 1979, the weird energy contained in thisis difficult to put into words. Demands to be heard.
