Comments for The Who, A Quick One (Happy Jack- U.S.

MCA remastered and re-released this wonderfully "raw" Who record in 1995 with extra tracks the band recorded during the same period. The second full-length Who album released in the U.S., A Quick One represents the Who moving away from other people`s material into a realm all their own. All four members` efforts are represented here. Highlights include John Enwistle`s foray into the macabre with "Boris the Spider" and "Whiskey Man", two very clever songs. Keith lets loose on "Cobwebs and Strange", a drumming feat that`s never been duplicated. Roger tries his hand at songwriting with "See My Way". But Pete Townshend pulls ahead with several pop gems. "Run Run Run" is possibly displays one of the most agnst driven guitar tracks in pop history. "A Quick One" is Pete`s first "rock opera" and set the stage for greater things to come. Pure Pop for picky people.
