Comments for Boston, Third Stage

E-MAIL: jep@physics.purdue.edu
While definitely possessing the unique Boston sound, this album seems very forced, mostly rehashing melodies, harmonies, and vocals. Had it not followed two very good and well received albums, this might have been hailed as a masterpiece. As it is, it just sounds like a lot of music that was left off the first two releases. Still a good album, but not up to the task created by the previous two.

At least Scholz fulfilled his contract w/Epic (Didn't he?) Talk about wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am... Should have acquiesced to the crazy notion that "Synthesizers are NOT all bad".

I am a die-hard Boston fan...and I consider Third Stage to be Tom Scholz's masterpiece. And Brad Delp's singing, particularly on 'My Destination" and "Can'tcha Say/Still In Love" are top notch!!

This album is perfectly sequenced. No anticlimax is found as can be found on the first two. Lyrics reflect significant personal experiences of a thoughtful mature adult which may be discomforting for the lyrical fans of the first two albums.
