One of the most excellent albums available!

Probably one of the three best albums ever made.

This album is by far the best thing to listen to on those late ass nights when you've taken too many mind enhancing drugs. The best part of the whole great shit is when you ask your friends "hey, what are you?" Then they can reply- "I'm an aligator... I'm a Mamma Pappa commin for you. I'm a Space invader...I'll be a rockin rollin bitch for YOU!" How about that for a neat little party trick!

On this album Bowie manages to reinvent the concept album. In the spirit of it's predecessors like Sgt. Peppers, the album creates and maintains a mood. It is best listened to all the way through, from begining to end (not including the bonus tracks). From the quiet, sad beginings of "Five Years" the album builds reaching a crescendo at "Suffragette City" only to bring us back to the 'I have no control' sort of hopelessness of "Five Years" with "Rock 'N' Roll Suicide." Bowie essentially takes us on a journey only to remind us at the end that we went nowhere. I don't know if I would agree with some of the other reviewers here. I'm not sure this album would make my top ten. But Rykodisc has done an awsome job with the entire Bowie catalog, great sound and worthwhile bonus tracks that are fun to listen to and give some insight into the Bowie 'demo to studio' process. Bowie and Ryko have made this a CD must have.

It had shook me 13 years ago so hard. And I began to start listening Bowie's earlier alubums to latest ones. I am now 29 years old and love music of samba than rock but I still seriously listen and feel Dacid Bowie World! Thanks.

I'm an israeli, and I'm on your stuff for 6 years or so ! There are no words to decribe that album, THE greatest maybe, though I liked "Ziggi Stardust - The motion picture very much too". I'm influenced by David Bowie and Bjork mainly, and find their ideas very similar to mine. I have been talking to Bjork , now I want to talk to you David. So, if you are reading this , reply ! This is one of Bowie's best albums, but I don't like the re-release at all. The original RCA album is much better.

DROOGIE BOOGIE!!! Unquestionably one of the best rock albums of ALL time. They (rarely) make 'em like this anymore! This kicks!

The first Bowie album I bought and one of my favourite albums of all time. Every song is just magnificent. 5 Years and Rock'n'Roll Suicide blew me away. I just sat there thinking, wow. If Bowie only released this album, it would've solidified him as one of the most influential and talented artists in rock. Make that music in general.

This record is all you need. It has the power to put its listeners into a certain mood that one does not ever want to exit. The lyrics are, as always, outstanding and a gift to those of us who are tired of ordinary love lyrics. The record seems to create a world of its own. Show me another record where all the songs are of this high quality!

An undisputed wonder of modern music. I do not take kindly, however, your sight's insistance on having the word 'gay' edited into the title of all the tracks. this is irrelavent and narrowmided.
