The title song of this album, "L''Americain" is dedicated to Mireille''s pygmalion, Johnny Stark. This album is a good mix of songs adressing societal issues ( Killer,La violence celle qui tue avec les mots), French history( De Gaulle). Other beautiful songs include "Ainsi soit-il" , "Je me parle de toi" and one can feel the elegance in Mireille''s voice when she sings "Caruso". Again, this album proves that Mireille is a singer of great talent, that she sings with all her heart and she can sing any style of song. This is the first album Mireille released following the death of her manager, Johnny Stark, in 1988. It is a bit more somber and more emotional than some of her other, more cheerful albums. "L`Américain" is a tribute to Johnny. There is likewise a tribute to Charles De Gaulle. Mireille is very modern and rock-style in "La violence celle qui tue avec les mots". "Caruso" is the French version of the famous Lucio Dalla song. A superb work. One of the best albums of Mireille. My absolut favorite.Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
