Comments for Dry Heeves, Looking Beyond The Obvious

"Looking Beyond The Obvious" is considered to be their most important work prior to the greatest hits collection, "Yovies: Existential Schizoid Music (1985-1989)." Hailing from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, this young trio of twisted intellectuals took the Atlantic Canadian alternative music scene by storm. In fact, some argue that the alternative scene didn`t exist in Atlantic Canada before their arrival. On this, their seminal effort, they dabble in heavy metal, punk, avant-garde, proto-techno and just plain insanity. The music still sounds outrageously original 12 years down the road. Their greatest hits collection contains "Acid Rain" and "Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse" from this album. The version of "Maggie" found herein is hardcore; the one on the greatest hits is hard rock. One hopes the group`s first release, "POW R TOC H / Ca Ca - 3B Revisited" will soon be available from VVVU Music. Anyone interested in "the world`s most fucked up band" can contact their record company: VVVU Music, 12 School Street, River Ryan, NS, Canada, B1H 3X2. One final note, their music is still heard in Canada on the CBC FM Stereo programs Nightlines and Brave New Waves.

Actually, Existential Schizoid Music was not a greatest hits package. It was a mixture of new experimental music with remixes of some older tracks.
