Comments for Ono, Yoko (including John Lennon), Rising

Yoko Ono, widow of John Lennon, made a stunning comeback in 1995 with this album.....which is one stunning piece of art filled with power, emotion, and thought. It involves the evils and terror of the Hiroshima bombing in 1945, and the dying of today. Ms. Ono writes this album with soul. "Warzone" is a very hard, harsh rock song, followed by funky "Wouldnit". "Ask The Dragon" is a poem of sorts, a what-if metaphor. "Talking To The Universe" is probably the album`s greatest tune and most accessable. "Turned The Corner" is emotional, and "New York Woman" is a little reminder of John (in a way). The rest of the album is also terrific. The album was made with Yoko`s and John`s son Sean Lennon, and his band Ima (Lennon, Sam Koppelman, Timo Ellis), and Lennon adds his own talent reminiscent of his late musical genius father. This album, however, is not for all tastes, and it takes an open mind but people who like art rock, hard rock, alternative, funky music, etc., would enjoy it.
