Comments for Johnson, Don, Heartbeat

With Miami Vice in the TV spotlight, it`s no wonder that Sonny Crockett could make an album and spawn a top 5 pop hit in its title track. Johnson can indeed sing well enough to carry this mediocre effort, even if it isn`t all that well. Johnson`s vocals are grating and a lot of the material is cliched. Even songs by Tom Petty and Bob Seger, as well as appearances by such notables as Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Michael Des Barres cannot save the record. Those who are interested can also find his follow-up Epic LP, Let It Roll (1989).
