That song Barbie Girl is SOOOO CUTE!!

The album and music sucks, there's no other way to put it. This is nothing more than, pre-adolescent pop-dreck with cheesy, retarded lyrics in the same vein as other "fake" groups such as Milli Vanilli, Spice Girls and NKOTB. Aqua's implications seem to be far more important to them than artistic creativity, and you folks are so stupid for falling for crap like this. For once, why don't you people use your god-given brain and figure out for yourself what is "real" music, and what is fake shite like this....rather than let the media dictate to you the Milli Vanilli's and Spice Girls that you should buy. If it weren't for the lame-brained Aqua CD commercials that they keep airing on TV, chances are this album wouldn't have even made into this database and you wouldn't even be here revealing to other people how stupid you truly are. Just take a look at the ratings, which speak for themselves! Enough said.

This is shit!!! How can you people waste your time and parent's money on crap like this??? Are you stupid, mental or something? I've also heard that Mattel, the makers of the Barbie Doll, are suing Aqua for copyright violations. Serves them right for trying to portray Barbie as an ugly slut bitch in their videos, giving little girls the wrong impressions about their beloved, toy doll. If Aqua is going to make bad music, at least try to be original about it...and even that they couldn't do.

This has got to be the worst album of 1997. The San Francisco Chronicle even has it ranked at #1 on their list of "Most Annoying CD's of 1997". Hopefully, Aqua will drown once their 15 minutes of fame are up!!! As for the lawsuit thrown against them, I heard that Aqua is now counter-suing Mattel Corp. for defamation of character. Am I missing something here? I thought that Mattel was suing them on the grounds that Aqua used other people's material without their permission, which is right. Now, where how did defamation of character come into play in the first place?!?? I find this very ironic, because Aqua doesn't have any character to defame in the first place. Anything that Mattel says won't be much of of an impact, because Aqua are about as low as any form of life can get!!!

Aqua sucks!!! My sister (who is 13) used to listen to it all the time. My more mature 6-year old sister, who couldn't stand Aqua one bit, took the CD and placed it in the path of an incoming car...crushing it into many little pieces!!!!

Barbie has a lot of class, unlike Aqua's lead singer who sticks her butt out like an ugly slut in those stupid, pointless videos.

To all you Aqua fans out there...Get a life and a boyfriend, and then you won't have to waste your precious time on shit like this.

This album is proof as to why the Danish Pastry industry is more lucrative than their music industry.

Irresistable pop/dance album, most of it with the same quick synthetic beat, but it is interesting. Nothing deep though, with cheesy lyrics but lots of hooks. Lene's voice is unique. My favorites are "Lollipop (Candyman)" and the more serious "Turn Back Time". A fun release, but not a strong one.

Looks like mostly people who don't like Aqua have responded to this posting. I guess I'll try for the otherside. Aqua is definately a 'no brainer'.. that is, their songs aren't deep or touching or anything of the soft. However, for dancing up a storm, this music is upbeat, happy, and doesn't try to tackle issues. If you are just after some good beat, dancing music.. give it a listen.

Aqua is the worst shit I have ever heard except Poka. The first time I heard them I laughed my ass off I thought they were a Weird Al, Adam Sandler band because there's no way anyone could listen to this stuff seriously only thing is they aren't a comedy band they are just a shit band. Aw!!! Look at the low 0.1 rating for this album. Aqua must suck pretty bad!!!!

An ultra-hookfest, with catchy melodies, throbbing synthetic dance beats, and silly lyrics, with weird vocals by Lene and Rene. However, if you like dance/club music without any real messages in the songs with a lot of fun in it, AQUARIUM is for you. This album spawned several big hits and sold multi-platinum, making it one of the essential dance/pop albums of the late 1990s. Don't come looking for AQUARIUM for personal love trials because they aren't here (except maybe "Turn Back Time"). Just listen to novelty tunes like "Barbie Girl" and "Lolipop Candyman" with an open mind and have fun, cause it can be wild at parties and clubs but won't help much as a heartache remedy à la George Jones.

Aqua are a one album wonder like most synthetic pop dreck music you see popping up these days. Like Milli Vanilli and New Kids before them, they'll be gone faster than anyone can say "Cindy=Ian & vice versa!!!!".

Danmarks News Agancy reports that an injunction was recently imposed on Aqua by a Danish high court. It cites the infringement of 3 copyright laws, one of which is currently under criminal investigation as the reason for the court's decision. Among the suits filed against Aqua are Matel Corp., which claims that they slanderously used the Barbie name without their permission, the legendary German rock band also named "Aqua" which accused the Danish pop group of stealing their name, several singer-songwriters who have sufficient evidence enough to prove that Aqua stole their works, inlcuding "Happy Boys and Girls", "Barbie Girl" and "Lollipop". As a result, the Danish pop group has been barred from further performing & recording under the name of "Aqua", and all copies of Aquarium have been ordered off the shelves of all european record stores until further notice. Copyright infingements are also more easier to prosecute in Danmark, so this looks like the end for Aqua. Since the plaintiffs own worldwide rights to their trademarks, the danish decision will also be affected in other countries as well.

Which goes to show how vulnerable people can be, and are easily brainwashed into believing something to be great, when all it is is slick, commercial marketing. But, Aqua go one down. They didn't even make bad music. They had to steal bad music from others. How low can they get??? Sheeesh....

It's hard to believe that there is actually a group that sucks more than the Spice Girls. Sure the Splice Sluts don't write or play any of their own stuff, but at least they don't PLAGIARIZE.

Aqua consists of: Lene Grawford Nystrom & Rene Dif on vocals while Soren Rasted & Claus Norreen handle the instruments. Great infectious euro-pop/dance music highlighted by the hit song, "Barbie Girl".

I think that Aqua Rocks!!!! It is the best CD!!!! I Love it I don't get why all of you people hate it????? Maybe cause all of you are looooooosers!!!!! I can't believe this. Barbie girl was a cool song and I bet you couldn't think of anything better that would be able to be put on the radio so stop dissing them!!!!

The person who submitted the original information of this Album had the songs incorrect and as well the time of the album. I have corrected the error. I do not know if most people were rating from the '97 album called 'Aquarium' or their latest album called (I believe) 'Aquarius'. The songs listed before were of the latter and not the former. I rate Aquarium 7/10
