Comments for Bush, Kate, Lionheart

E-MAIL: NSRJM@NURSEPO.MEDCTR.UCLA.EDU
Her only imperfect album, Lionheart was rushed into the studio and released less than a year after the phenomenal success of her debut, The Kick Inside. While there are bright moments overall, her songwriting here occasionally sounds amateurish, and the addition of electronic keyboards (compared to Kick's sparse but gorgeous piano) is not an altogether welcome one. Still, a transitional album which illustrates the path between two great but vastly different releases, the aforementioned Kick and Never for Ever.

Everyone complains about this album being too lush or too polite or too Laury Nyro-ish. I love Kate''s vocals and don''t care that it''s not as "inventive" as The Dreaming. It''s all beautiful except for the strange Hammer Horror, which is more like her newer stuff.

Well, it IS Kate Bush, but Lionheart is a snoozefest. Okay, "Hammer Horror" is great!
