This group of six native Otavaleņos from Otavalo, Ecuador have spent the last 4 summers touring North America. This is their second release. The group plays a number of different styles of music, from the traditional rhythms of the Andes Mountains like San Juan, Tinku and Sicuri using traditional native instruments such as the qena, zampoņa, charango and rondador. In addition, they play more modern pieces such as cumbias and lambadas, utilizing both traditional instruments and the more modern Spanish influenced instruments such as the guitar and violin. Lyrics are sung in Quichua and/or Spanish but an English translation is included in the cover notes. Look for a web site coming soon.
