This is where things go wrong. In an attempt to become "serious" musicians the subject matter has changed to an adult theme and taken on a dancey, 70's disco feel. The opening song "Bring me closer" is painful to suffer through, or a histarically funny joke depending on your point of view. With it's Disco guitar and Clare's voice hitting notes that just shoot through you one has to ask, WHY? You were so good. The album is not a total loss, "Love to stay" is surprisingly very good and stands the test of time. "Change of heart" is the closest thing you're gonna get to a "Pinky Blue" style track on this LP. Bouncy keyboards and a Supremes-like chorus make it the best track on the LP. The best songs from this era are saved for B-sides and bonus tape tracks. "Surprise me" is a fantastic, hook filled, bouncy song done in the "Pinky Blue" fashion, as is "Last goodbye" and "I don't want to know", which is the only song here that never made a vinyl appearance. If this ever comes out on CD it better contain all of the bonus tracks as that would make it well worth the purchase. Scott Davies 4/2/98

I have to admit this is my favorite Altered Images album. I would love to see this on cd (especially with the extra tracks). As far as I''m concerned this is their most mature, consistent album. The songs are better and the production is flawless. It''s the first time the band had sustained a single mood through one album. The extra tracks are fun (though I haven''t heard I Don''t Want To Know-as far as I know it wasn''t released here in the states), but were left off the album as they obviously didn''t fit the mood of the other material. Over a decade down the line it''s still one of my favorites.
Songs with an "*" are on the cassette only

While I love Pinky Blue, I love BITE more, and think it is the Altered Images album to have, a rounded, mature, very poppy disc. When is it out on cd with the bonus cassette only tracks? I will be buying it.....hurry up record company and re release it. David
