Comments for Can, Unlimited Edition

The pieces don't excel but together add up to a nice portrait of what the band were doing. This is for converted fans primarily. But the tracks with Mooney singing ("Connection", "Fall of An. Year", "Empress & U. King") show astounding imagination on his part and clue us in on just how great this band really was.

This is not for the converted only. I found the original 2-lp release in a bargain bin in '77, and I've been hooked on Can and Holger Czukay ever since.

This is an excellent album. This represents material that is not substandard, but different from material that appeared on the albums from the periods between 1968 and 1975. "Empress and the Ukrane King","Mother Upduff","Connection","Cutaway","Gmhorra",and "Blue Bag" are standouts.

everyone should own this album...can is truly one of the greats in my opinion.
This is a compilation of material recorded between 68 and 75that didn`t quite make it to the official albums, not that anyof it is substandard. Features both of their vocalists Malcolm Mooney and Damo Suzuki. There is a diversity of musical styles stolen from all over the world as featured on the Ethnological Forgery Series (EFS) -which are short spontaneously improvised tracks. These are mixed in with some distinctive sounding songs like`Connection` and `Mother Upduff`, instrumental passages `Gomorrha` ,`Trancendental Express` and curious jingles like`Blue Back..` and `DokoE`.`Ibis` is the pinnacle on this CD -a 9 minute instrumental fromthe `Soon over Babaluma` period. The compilation represents CAN in their prime. After this period, around 75ish, they begun to lose inertia and their main ideasman Holger Czukay.
