Comments for Andrea Bocelli, Canto Della Terra (second edition single)

I have the 4-track single in my collection and here is what I have to say: One of Andrea’s most popular singles since his own Con Te Partirò, the Canto Della Terra merely served as one of several reasons for his increased popularity in America, as did The Prayer, that gorgeous Céline Dion collaboration. The first time I heard this song was the very day the album Sogno was released and it went on to win a diamond certification here in America. Like it or not, I also heard it on air one day and was like, “I thought Bocelli can’t have airplay anywhere.” It wasn’t on radio; must have been on a jukebox. I also heard it on TV and was like, “Man that gave me a heart attack; I just gotta get that single!” Accompanied by a choir known as the “Joy Singers of Venice,” Andrea seems to have extracted what could be his most well-known anthem since Time To Say Goodbye. The two people who wrote Con Te Partirò also wrote the CDT (unless I’m wrong). I never saw the video but would like to and see what I think. It hits me when Andrea hits that high note on the second refrain, where he goes, “sole….”, and the Joy Singers then come chiming in. Regarding “Un Canto,” it’s not one of my favorite AB songs even though it reminds me of an aria. Never would I have thought that Andrea would go ahead and lengthen the CDT as an extended version. For crying out loud, man, what do you mean, Canto Della Terra extended album version? Well, that was the original full-length version. That’s what it was, and it’s nevertheless my favorite version of the Canto. The instrumental version isn’t that much different from the extended version. Oh, well. Several versions of this single were extracted around the same time the 1999 album was released. This is the only Andrea Bocelli single in print other than his hugely popular Sarah Brightman collaboration, but the only version that does exist is the one with The Prayer. My interest in searching for obscure singles by Andrea and Sarah is like trying to catch the rarest Pokémon. I wonder how much will future singles by Andrea live up to this and Time To Say Goodbye? What would you think?

P.S. I like it anyway.
