Comments for Andrea Bocelli, Canto Della Terra (fourth edition single)

OMG.....WHAT’S UP, Y’ALL? Mauro baby, you must have REALLY worked up a sweat there, huh, pal? Yo, Insieme, what's going on here? Over ten albums by my favorite singer, Andrea Bocelli, and not even a dance remix of any of his singles except for “The Prayer”? Give me a break! If Sarah Brightman and everyone else goes around doing them, why can’t he? Relax. Maybe he’s not interested in joining in the silly trend. Anyway, enough of that. I want to focus on this single. I have seen the music video twice already on the internet since Wednesday, and the second time I saw it brought tears to my eyes knowing that it was well worth the wait. I liked the video because it gave me an idea as to how much humanity, the enviromnent, and everything else should be respected and appreciated. Really, the “Canto Della Terra” is a whole lot more than what you might call a “love” song. It’s really about the love my Andrea shows for the one he loves and for humanity, one of the only songs I can listen to over and over again and it doesn’t “rot my teeth” like most of the Céline Dion songs have to such an extent that I don’t listen to her anymore, good voice or not. The BBC chose this in 2000 as their official theme song for something. I have two releases of this particular single, one with “The Prayer” and the other being a 4-track CD single release that comes with the absolute BEST version of Canto I’ve ever heard, namely the Extended Version. I lament in the music video (the third official Bocelli video I’ve seen so far) that the version played is the Radio Edit, which appears on every freaking release of “Sogno.” Thus, it’s a damn good thing that I snapped the 4-track CDT (catalogue #5634592) because it was the best of the three releases for it. Either way, Andrea sings the song with such heartfelt emotion and integrity that he’ll leave you with a feeling that all other “love” ballads you’ve heard are second-rate compared to this. I’ve had that feeling in the same way I did “Con Te Partirò” (Time To Say Goodbye, whatever), but even that one wasn’t standard enough to hit me in the face when it needed to. But I love that one, too, as well as this one, “Per Amore,” and certain of Andrea’s incredible selections. I am working on a song titled “The One I Love” (and plan on giving it a subtitle knowing that R.E.M., one of my newest interests, sang a song of that title already) and in choosing the right singer to sing that song, which I believe will be very beautiful, I honestly feel Andrea fits the picture. But then again, who knows what the next hit-you-in-the-face standard by my Bocelli baby will be?
