Necroticism is a cold album. It puts the listener up against a smooth wall in the morgue, and shows him the morbid habits of a dimented mind: dissecting and feasting on the deceased. Lyrically brilliant, relentlessly executed, Necroticism is a harsh experience. A must.

Necroticism is the definitive work in the death/grind genre. Steer, Owen, Walker, and Amott successfully create a uniquely disturbing atmosphere through their distinctive melodies and intricate lyrics, which incorporate numerous twisted plays on words and other complexities which can take several readings to discover. The music is harsh, and yet brilliantly conceived, with many moments which can only be described as sublime. As with any Carcass release, this is a mandatory purchase; I can honestly say that everyone I know who's ever heard Carcass has appreciated the immense talent behind the music.

On the seventh day, Carcass created God.

The finest Carcass has ever been. The guitars tear and rip with a cold machine-like precision; the sound is almost industrial, but there is an odd, living fluidity to them all. The vocals are some of the best in the death/grind genre: unbelievable. The leads are the best part though. They echo and fade and jump and skitter giving themselves a fleeting presence best described as surreal. A must for any fan of any type of extreme music.

If Carcass played cards against god, who'd win? That's a tricky question... CARCASS A R E GOD.

One of my fave albuns of all time, it really marked my life! Great music & vocals, also beautiful guitar leads & perfect lyrics - it made me escaping to a world of twisted madness, in true!!!!!

Words can not give justice to possibly the greatest album of all time. This is beautiful melodic grind, with technically perfect riff changes, and awesome lyrics/vocals. Carcass composed a symphony while all the other bands were simply repeating one riff over and over and thus making the listener fall asleep. This is the album to crank with pride!

The best death/grind album of all times, in my opinion.
this is the first album with Mike Amott. The band is very graphic in detail (as usual) and the music is just plain great. The best songs are Corporal Jigsore Quandary, Pedigree Butchery, and Lavaging Expectorate...However, all the tracks are really good and if you picked up Heartwork and liked it you would really enjoy this as well.

welllll - describing this record is slightly mad thing. Every time I listen to these songs I ask myself: whats so fucking evergreen, simple and sophisticated in that vivid music. Thats the poem on simplicity, harshness, roughness of superbly designed and recorded wall of sound. Music is exactly as lyrics and the booklet may suggest - clinically cold, vains and blood of their guitars. I d suggest all more recent bands to learn from Carcass how to play heavy music which isnt boring and cliche. Creativity and tremendous riffs + words I get only appr.(im Polish) but the message is clear.

Adding a forth member to the band was a great idea!!, this doesnt mean that the "Gurus" Steer, Owen and Walker sucked, no way, never!!, but with the previous two, Reek and Symphonies you couldnt tell too much, they could do more than that, Steer needed another axe-ZEN!!!, and Michael Amott was the one!, when the Toold from the Trade EP came out I just stood still, sat down, listened to it over and over again and couldnt believe how perfectly melodic, heavy, fast and thrilling could it be!!,......The Necrotism (the perfect symphony of sickness) just bleed my ears and threw away my ideas of fast-melodic-shredding riffs, made me start worshiping a band.......the Heartwork put me on my knees and start worshiping. whenever I see a CARCASS CD on a store I wonder why is it still there????, dont they know what they've got inside that piece of plastic and binary codes???
