While it's true that the videos are somewhat idiotic, and every song sounds the same, the title track is as close to perfection, FOR WHAT IT IS, as any record ever made. Nevertheless, I can certainly understand whaypeople don't like them.

Ace of base needs to differentiate each track they put on thier new album. The tracks that are on the albums "the sign and the us release are all similar. critics can easily argue that this musical strategy is thier own distinctive style, but then styles can sometimes become boring to music fans who crave for something new. Ace of base could adopt the Micheal Jackson dangerous formula: in which tracks 1-7 were all swing oriented music and tracks 8-16 were all the typical micheal jackson songs. this way they can satisfy their hard core fans and also those who doubt thier potentials. this however can be very difficult to achieve as artistes are not machines but spiritualists who do not choose what form of music they want but are given music just like prophets and clairvoyants are given dreams. if u dont have the european version of happy nation - get it. its awesome. talk about differentiating tracks! the only 4 or 5 different tracks r very different! they shouldda included them on the sign! wfm total remix 7" sux. the regular version is awesome. wof origonal club mix is awesome! munchhausen (who is he, anyway? ive heard he is a kids story book character) is really cool, and dimension of depth is so non ace of base its cool. if anyone actually reads this - email me if u have any cool singles (mostly european) that u wanna sell, or group tour info. thanx!

Well, they my not be the best musicians in the world, but as far as catchyness and dancabilty, they beat the crap out of anyone else. I admit that they do repeat the songs, but they groove. Ace Of Base is not only one of the most talented of the dance/club artists, but also probably the most successful of the 1990s, coming out of Sweden to become huge stars and selling their album THE SIGN (released outside the US as HAPPY NATION) platinum many many times over. And, of course, there is good reason: their great arrangements and sometimes meaningful songs, with definate hooks. They had several big singles influding the irresistable "The Sign", "All That She Wants", "Living In Danger", and "Don't Turn Around" (the only song on the CD not penned by group men Jonas 'Joker' Berggren and Ulf 'Buddha' Ekberg, this was written by Diane Warren and Albert Hammond). The arrangments are excellent for this type of pop, even though every song has nearly the same beat. The vocals of Linn and Jenny Berggren blend excellently, and Ekberg's raps are quite good. The group's sound and image makes them seem much like ABBA, and it is inevitable that they will be compared to them, because even if they deny it, there is a definate influence of ABBA all over THE SIGN. If you are a dance/club fan, this CD is an absolute must, and fans of modern pop should enjoy it too for its boundless hooks.

Well I must to say that I love music such as MARILYN MANSON / ROB ZOMBIE / RAMMSTEIN / MEAT BEAT MANIFESTO / NO FIX / BAD RELIGION ... but I listen too ACE OF BASE, 'coz I think that ACE OF BASE is one of the few decent 90's dance bands, and still being innovate with new styles of music... they're not ABBA, they're ACE OF BASE, and they do enought good music, and I have a good taste for music, I listen all music, but my fav. is the Heavy / Metal / Hard Rock...
