Comments for Church, The, Of Skins And HeartE-MAIL: bsmith@vcomtelc.telecom.com.au This is where it all started. Back when everyone was into synth and drum machines, The Church had a hit with "The Unguarded Moment", which unfortunately, the band (at least, Steve Kilbey) don''t like. Hello ? Are we on the same track here ? How couldn''t he like it, if everyone else did ? I think the audience were listening for other things than Steve was. Anyway, it''s not the only song there: Bel Air, Fighter Pilot and Is This Where You Live are my favourites here, the last of which makes a KILLER live song. Get the boots if you can. Overall, it''s intelligent garage band (they shot three clips, all in the same garage, so I say they were a garage band !) fare, which keeps you listening. The embryonic interplay which became their hallmark is evident here, though in a more straightforward, no-reverb-and-wailing, kind of way. The US version (on Arista) contains 3 bonus tracks, taken from a double single the band released. The songs are also available on Hindsight, the double compilation album BrianComments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
