Comments for Civil Rite, Civil Rite-Demo

Let me try that again> First Demo by L.A. Urban Rock outfit Civil Rite. This band is fronted by Guitarist/Vocalist/Entrepreneur Tory Ruffin (His work is also available on the debut Dionne Farris album 'Wild Seed, Wild Flower' and the Power-Alternative band 'Subject to Change') In the tradition of FIshbone this band veers across so-called boundaries of music without fear. But instead of ska and psychedelia, Civil Rite mixes Rock, Thrash, Rap, Jazz, Pop and Funk into a potent stew which when taken in any dose goes down smooth and easy. This tape starts off with the rock ballad 'No Country' and slippery George Benson-ism of 'Just a Little Bit' and slowly gathers energy and speed until the breakneck thrash of 'Coporate Dick' (A song that has to be heard to be believed, with running history of CR's adventures with Major Record Labels, it changes everytime they play it live) and the heavy turbo-groove of 'Mr. Know-it-All'. Last I had heard, CR were having talks with Dr. Dre (The Cronic) about a possible deal with Death Row records. That might happen and it might not. Either way, you can get this tape by calling (213) 644-1828.
