Comments for 24-7 Spyz, Strength in Numbers

These guys could do it all. Metal, Hard Rock, Funk, Reggae, R&B, and they always kicked it. They were able to get two videos on MTV (Break the Chains and Stuntman), but they were shown more on Beavis and Butthead than anywhere else (B&B really liked them too). They had as much exposure from that as White Zombie, but unfortunately the group had broken up and was trying to re-hired their previous singer at the time. Oh Well. This is still one hell of an album - check it out, if you can find it.

I second fwalton's emotion. "Strength In Numbers" is all that and then some. fwalton's own comments show this ain't your average "metal" band, so don't put them in that pigeonhole! And if you dig the album, be sure to go out and support them when they pass through your town next!

This is easily the best effort from the Spyz. I'd give it a 9.5 if I could (a 10 is _real_ hard to get outta me). The range of styles and tempos on the album is incredible. It is one of the best "complete" CD's I own. If you're big into "Mainstream" popular stuff, though, you may want to stay away from this -- it doesn't concern itself with being catchy, only with having something to say.

The production on this album is THE best of all the Spyz albums. Having Terry Date work with the boys brought out the hard edge quite a bit. You just don't get heavier than Terry. Jeff's vocals totally rock. The drum production is very punchy, hits like a sledge. And Rick's bass sound is the best ever. This is a 10 in my book! If you don't have it, get! Spyz forever!!!

When I first picked up Strength In Numbers it was all I listened to for 3 months straight. There is no lie to that! 24-7 is the best band that I have ever heard. Their versatility makes them palatable for nearly everyone. I could only hope that one day they would return to Portland Oregon so that I would have the pleasure of seeing them perform live again. I bought "Strength in Numbers" from the used cassette bin at a local record store. It was a promotional copy - not for resale. I had only heard of 24-7 Spyz from a momentary glimpse of the Stuntman Video on Beavis & Butthead. Figured what the hell, I'll try it. That was 5 years ago. I still listen to it at least once a week. So fresh & powerful.....what music is supposed to be......I definately wouldn't want to be on a dessert island without it...
