If anyone is looking for one of the two or three best Coltrane albums on the market, (considering what facet you like best about him) look no further. Do not be dismayed by the label free jazz if you normally think of it as chaotic and discordant. This is a beautiful record. No, not syrupy sweet like some pop hit of the day, or even pretty like Trane's normal ballads. This is beauty of truth. In the frenetic screams and spiritual themes he plays, one gets a sense of his vast knowledge of the universe, and maybe, if you listen close enough, you will come away with a piece of that knowledge.

Incredible! Nothing like any of his other free jazz work. Beautiful, and easy to listen to for anyone.
Stellar Regions is an example of Coltrane`s late playing. This is avant-garde jazz at perhaps its best, or at least very, very good. Backed by Alice Coltrane on piano, Jimmy Garrison on bass, and Rashied Ali on drums, this free jazz is wonderful. Great album, only recently released, but recorded in 1967.
