Comments for Coltrane, John, Ballads

An exercise in exploring the possibilities and variations in jazz, even though the songs are easy listening. Many pieces start similarly but develop along their own lines. Very beautiful.

Great ballad playing by the Coltrane Quartet With McCoy Tyner on piano, Jimmy Garrison on bass, and Elvin Jones on drums. The Quartet pus a new blend on ballad playing, and it is a great example of playing this type of music.
