Comments for Cracker, The Golden Age

Cracker rocks! Camper Van Beethoven kinda sucks, though.

Golden Age firmly places Cracker among the royalty of the music business. After listening to this alblum, one cannot help but be blown away by this cd. Cracker took a gamble by straying away form the successful formula that they had with Kerosine Hat. The gamble paid off and they pumped out an alblum which is second to none in energy , and chunk. I've never heard a sring section used so aggresively in a cd before. In other bands the strings are used in "sooky" tear in my beer tunes, not in the case of Golden Age, in fact they add more energy to the songs. The songs, 100 Flower Power Maximum, and Sweet Thistle Pie are incredibly heavy songs and are in my opinion the best of the cd and are guaranteed to put anyone into a air guitar playing frenzy. The record sales and lack of air play in Canada are unfortunate, and Ihope it does not discourage Cracker from taking the "Golden Age's" sound to the next level. Beg, borrow, or steal the required money to purchase such a gem, you won't regret it.

this record should have gotten more attention. it has some serious kick butt rock and roll and some real adventurism song writing and arranging. do your self a favor and see this band in a bar or small arena, where they play 2 sets. serious rock and roll.
This album is the best album of ALL TIME. I can`t believe I`m the first one to comment on this album. Unfortunately it did not get very much playing time on the radio. When I first bought this album, I could not believe how dominating it was. I could not put the CD away, I just kept listening and listening. I got the chance to go see them twice here in MN in 96 when it came out, both concerts ruled, but the one at First Avenue(The smaller place) was a little better because they played more songs. This band is unbelievable and I strongly recommend that you all go get this album NOW!!! Trust me, you will not regret it!
