Comments for Cowboy Junkies, The Caution Horses

The album that never seems to end. Even the presence of the Powderfinger cover (one of my favorite Neil Young songs) can't rescue this one. Get Trinity Session or Pale Sun, Crescent Moon instead.

This is not my favorite CJ album-I don't think that I have a favorite-but I love to listen to this one when I am taking a nap or not feeling real upbeat. All of the songs seem to have a very soothing effect. On other albums the songs vary more in tempo and style but this one is perfect for the mood that I sometimes find myself in, and there is no other album that puts me at ease like this one does.

Although probably the weakest Cowboy Junkies album I''ve heard, musically - the tunes have the feel of having been hammered out haphazardly around the lyrics - some of it, particularly "Sun Comes Up, It''s Tuesday Morning" and "Cheap Is How I Feel", due to the strength of the lyrics and Margo''s inimitable voice, evoke the feel of wandering, numb loneliness and pain of just-lost love to a T.
