This is probably one of the best albums ever made. Robert Smith = Genious....

I agree....it's almost certainly the best Cure album.

"The Head on the Door" seems to me a Robert Smith's prime work; unfortunately, The Cure didn't repeat this artistry again.

No, no, no. A good album, yes...but not their greatest by any stretch. I belong to the mailing list and I can assure you that this album is not considered one of their greatest.

"HEAD ON THE DOOR" is a nice album full of straight-ahead pop songs. Of course, these are the greatest pop songs ever written, but they are still pop songs. Nothing incredible, nothing bad, really. Well, maybe inbetween days is pretty damn cool, and SCREW isn't so hot, but the point is, that it's a good album, which cure fans should definitely own, but if you're not into the cure, it's not a must-own for everybody, like, say, WISH and DISINTEGRATION are. Kinda makes me want to hide in my closet and jump off a cliff.

This is easily one of the Cure's finest albums. This can only be compared by Disentegration and Pornography. Sure, it is a poppy album, but the songs are still rock solid. This album is a can't miss and all the people who only like the Cure when they are depressing should wake up and give this album it's credit.Almost perfect.

this is my second favorite cure album. i feel only disintegration tops it. the baby screams is the only song i dont like. New album,Wild Mood Swings, is more remimiscent of this album than any other.

"Sinking" makes this album....the poppy mood of the album (which is not bad, it's rather good, actually) gives way to a Smith masterpiece. "Kyoto Song" is a nice song, too. They're all nice, really.

when i finally got around to picking this one up, i was not expecting it to be as good as "disintegration" or "kiss me kiss me kiss me". the singles are terrific, especially "close to me", just a wonderful song really, with a clever and very original arrangement. a perfect use of horns. "in between days" is another gem that sort of begins the trend of pop classics smith would compose later in "just like heaven" and "friday i'm in love". "a night like this" is one of his more ambitious songs, and works well on many levels. but after that only the guitar oriented "push" is really up to scratch. the rest is only okay, still the four good songs are better than most and as pop records go you can do a great deal worse. shrug.
