A very mature album full of all their existentialist influences. FtEotDGS being one of the best examples. There are a couple of good old Cure-pop tunes however, the best one being 'Friday'. Memories are made of this......

This album first introduced me to The Cure, and they were soon to be my favorite band. Having heard all of the other official releases, I keep coming back to this one as one of the very best. Unparalleled songwriting, fine instrumentation, and an odd self-referentiality all help to make this album a masterpiece.

Oh Elise it doesn't matter what you say I just can't stay here every yeseterday like keep on acting out the way the way we act out. And every day to smile forget and make beLIEve we never neede any more than this. He tells no more lies....

Isn't 'End' the best song on the album?

The Cure Rules! "Friday, I'm in love!" is definitely one of the best songs of the band. The video is very cool and, in my opinion, shows the real Cure style.

"From the edge of a deep green sea" it's the very best song

I didn't even WANT to like The Cure before I listened to this album. It dragged me in kicking and screaming, but now I'm a Cure fan for life, and I LOVE IT!!!!

"Apart" is the best song. Such a downer and so great... Cela fait peur.

I've known the cure since i was a freshmen in highschool - "End" in the best in this album!!!!!

From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea.... what can you say? Simply the BEST ever Cure song. Brings up old memories... *sniff*

"Friday I'm in Love" is lame.. whoever said it's their best has no clue. It is NOT representative of The Cure. "To Wish Impossible Things" is the best song on the album, in my opinion. I wonder why no one else mentioned it. It's beautiful.

I´m so tired of "Friday I´m in love". But on the other hand, why care? Roberts most irritating songs are after all better then anyone elses. De' tyck' ja' iallafall.

By far one of the best albums by The Cure (Other than Disintegration). "From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea" is an excellent song and Robert Smith did an excellent job in concert at Dallas with this song. As usual the lyrics are a very potent part to the entire song and Robert did an excellent job. This song, as well as "To Wish Impossible Things," keeps my faith in Robert Smith and the band as the greatest. Both songs have managed to explain more details to life than any other's, by far. When does the next album come out...

"Apart" is the best song of the album. Sometimes it just feels so right.
E-MAIL: twilight@bbs.keene.k12.nh.us
hrmm.. hard choice on the best song..probably a letter to elise, although from the edge of the deep green sea and to wish impossible things are also some of my favorite songs.. has anyone noticed a sorta epic story within the album, about a guy and a girl's relationship? it goes around in circles too, so the repeat button adds even more!

While not as good as 'Disintegration', Wish does offer some highlights that keep the Cure fan in good stead. My favs are "High" ahhhh....can't beat that song :) "To Wish Impossible Things" a haunting melody, and "Trust". I am not to fond of the guitar heavy tunes that make up the rest of the album.

This was one of The Cure'e more disappointing albums. It cannot compare with Disintigration, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me. Granted it is better than Pornography, but not nearly as good as even The Top, or Japanese Whispers. The Best song on the album has to be "Dooing the Unstuck", or "High". "Open" is pretty good, but "Trust" is one of the worst Cure songs.

Apart from "Wendy Time" - this is a perfect album. It has great songs on it, some happy ones and others not so happy. "End" is their best song ever, I truly mean that from the bottom of my Cure-heart. "please stop loving me", the words and the voice are both so full of pain you've got to belive Robert... "Friday I'm in Love" is a _great_ popsong, I can't understand why anyone hates it because it's not gloomy... Strange people... You probably have a reason for reading this, so if you wonder what Cure-album to start with, then buy "Wish"... Oyvind Svaleng

Dear God, how much better can an album get?!! Every single song is PERFECT!!! "...Deep Green Sea," Trust," "Wish," "Elise," and "End" are the most heartwrenching songs ever written. I LOVE IT!!! Every single song somehow manages to relate to an aspect of my life. No, I don't particularly like myself. When this CD was released, I was a freshman in high school. A friend of mine was wearing a cure shirt one day, and i made fun of him for liking such a silly little band with such silly little songs as "Friday." He simply told me that the cure was the best group EVER, and that I would see the light eventually. Four years later, I now worship Robert Smith and wear lipstick and eyeshadow. He was right. The cure is the best. "Wish" is the best. Once You've heard this album: A) Nothing will ever be the same again B)You'll hate yourself and C) every other CD will suck in comparison. Be warned.

What can I say about IT ? My mind leaves me when I hear soundes of "Apart" or so... This is one of the gratest albums in the World. Also I wonna, blin(it`s russian word, so don`t fuck your dictionary), say this: "Cure is the best !!!" Every friday I fall in love ...

i went the the wish tour in 92. it's was the best decision i had made. i went from a rapper to a cure-head. no doubt, the wish album had changed taste in music for life. forever cure.

Just want to say: you don't have to hate yourself to love this album. It's probably one of their happiest, but that doesn't keep the songs from hitting close to the heart. Probably the best album to start with.

I like "high" - it has that kitty-kat-purr-mrowr!-i-want-u-but-i'm-shy kinda quality. Plus, i like "doing the unstuck" - i can just imagine tearing up wallpaper, and banging down doors - i love it :) "friday im in love" - sure, its not representative, but its still yummy And to whoever like "to wish impossible things" - i like that too. Depressing, but nice when youre in that slit-my-wrists-i-just-broke-up-with-my-truest-love

I wish you 'Friday I'm In Love' people would just go away.
E-MAIL: rsuarez@bellsouth.net
"wish" was the perfect follow up to the thick masterpiece "disintegration". not wanting to closedown (pun intended) on a down note, smith rebounded with "doing the unstuck" he has gone on record as saying that he wanted to depart from mope-gloom-end-of-the-world bit. he was tired of being blamed for others misery- hence the powerful "...please stop loving me, i am none of these things..." message to his fans who insisted he was selling out. this is a wonderful album and ranks only behind "disintegration", that album left a strong imprint on many people. but truth be told this album actually has better balance. everything on it musically better and all the songs are good. "friday i'm in love" was clearly overplayed, yes, but only "just like heaven" is better as far as their pop songs go. true a great many jonny-come-lately's were attracted due to this song, but what can you do, it was a huge crossover hit. i'm a huge cure fan, and i've seen them twice in concert (seventh row) last time, and deeply resent those cure fans who say they hate "friday". i know that when no one's looking you secretly crank the volume and dance around your room to that song. "wish" is a grand achievement truly. not the best cure, but rather the cure at its best. shrug.

Wish is simply one of the most memorable Cure albums ever. A Letter to Elise, From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea and To Wish Impossible Things are some of the most memorable and moving songs in the Cure's illustious history. Wish is just one those albums you can listen to over and over again. A must for any true Cure addict.

i love it when a band makes me cry . . .
A bit of a return to a more guitar oriented Cure.Much less synth than on Disentegration (probablybecause the synth player got booted) Personally,I really like this album minus a few songs (mainly that silly little `Friday` song).
