Well, it's really nice hearing from them again but: The material has its ups AND downs. Drummer Joel Maitoza seems to play more laid back than before - and that's a bad thing since he was a great boost for the band when he joined some years ago. "If I Could" is a killer though...

Haven't listened to it much as of yet, but it seems a bit grungier than previous efforts -- and I'm not sure if I like that. But Jimi Hazel does a "better-than-I-expected" job on lead vocals. I wish they'd have brought back Jeff from the "Strength in Numbers" CD. So far, I'd say I like "Strength..." and "Temporarily.." better than 6, but 6 is better than "Gumbo...". Haven't heard "Harder Than You" yet, and "This Is..." doesn't really count.

Jimi Hazel is an awesome talent. He could be the next "black Leslie West". This album smokes and I hope Vernon is off in some corner somewhere wishing that he didn't screw up the SPYZ's when they TRIED to join the BRC (Cliche Town USA)....Many happy wishes and good luck to the BADBOYS FROM THE BRONX!....say hello to Wayne for me.....from the former member of OUTRAGEOUS

I THINK NEWEST RELEASE FROM 24 7 SPYZ IS THEIR BEST LINE-UP YET. JOEL FOUND HIS WAY BACK HOME TO THE BAND HE BELONGS IN. HIS DRUMMING ON THIS ALBUM IS EXCELLENT. JIMI DOES AN INCREDIBLE JOB AS LEAD VOCALIST FOR THE BAND. THE MIXTURE OF TEXURES OF MUSIC IS QUITE NICE AS WELL. WHAT CAN I SAY? THIS ALBUM IS NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING!!!!!!!!

The Spyz are a truly underated band. Jimi is an amazing talent on the fretboard. He's got jazz, funk and metal and rolls it all up in a great mixture. Living Colour could only dream of writing material this good. Rick is the king of groove. And Joey, what can I say. He slams. Although the production is not what "Strength" had, it still gets me off totally. I love the Spyz...

"This record is completely badass! It has been re-released in the states under the name, "Heavy Metal Soul By The Pound". The Spyz have signed with What Are Records out of Boulder,CO. and Jimi is starting a new label called..Gumbo Recordings. Look for this record, new used or whatever...but you've got to pick up this record." --Dave Herrera,Denver CO.

These guys get better with every album, and it doesn't matter what happens with the members of the band! And if this album doesn't prove how well-rounded they are, nothing will. This album has it all. Every style they play they play well. I'm ready for their next album now...

Spyz kick ass!! Great to see these guys persevering the "struggle", otherwise there'd be no one left to funk my ass up. If you like these guys, check out The Urge and Fishbone!

I was at their "Final" show at the China Club in Chicago on 6/5/93, and I was so bummed that I cried all the way home. You can only imagine the joy when I found the newest albums, and when I saw them a few mos. ago at the Double Door. I got to chat with Rick and Jimi for a bit, and even got them to sign an unused ticket from that China Club show. I cried all the way home this time, too, but they were tears of joy! The Spyz are back, badass as ever... There IS a God!

SPYZ are back, and the wait as worth it ! This album has received airplay, something that all their other albums did not receive in Australia. Maybe finally they will get the props they deserve. This CD has been in my CD-player for the last three months and it hasn't come out once ! This is their best work yet.

This is the greatest recording the Spyz have made yet,...simple as that Joe is out and Matt Martin is the drummer on tour..but it's always been Rick and Jimi..THIS ALBUM IS BREATHTAKING!!

The SPYZ are back! Now a three-piece, with guitarist Jimi Hazel on lead vocals (and some help from King`s X lead vocalist Doug Pinnick), these 17 tracks continue in the same vein as Strength In Numbers. Well over an hour worth of funk & rap-flavored heavy metal, a section of R & B songs, and the trademark Spyz-style music. These guys deserve the press that`s being showered on alot of lesser bands. Highly recommended!!
